A group
of three girls at Wright School got together with Ms. Rebecca Viverette,
Clinical Social Worker, Ms. Nina Lorch, Speech Language Pathologist,
and Dr. Elaine Fields, Assessment Coordinator, and learned to sew
by making their own dolls (see below for pictures and stories)!

How
We Made Our Dolls First, we decided what we wanted our faces to look like. We drew our eyes, nose and mouth. Then we pinned the doll pattern to the cloth we picked out. Then we cut it out. Next, we learned how to embroider the doll's face. We each got a turn to use the sewing machine. After we sewed up the arms and legs, we had to stuff them. The teachers helped sew the doll parts together. Then we picked out yarn to make the hair. I picked green yarn! My doll looks really
great! I think my family will love her! |

A.
wrote a story about her doll and called it: By A. Once upon a time there was a little girl named Daisy. Her name was Daisy because she loved daisies. She went outside to swing. She loved swinging. She saw a butterfly and ran to chase it. Soon she realized she was lost. Mom came and yelled, “It’s time for dinner.” She didn’t see her. Soon Daisy came by following the butterfly. I called Daisy as I was running for her. We hugged and I said, “Don’t do that any more.” Daisy said, “Okay mommy.” “It is dangerous to do that sweetie. I love you Daisy.” “Let’s go eat dinner.” “Okay!” |

C. wrote a story about her doll and called
it:
Maretta and the White Horse By C. Once upon a time in a young
girl’s room in a cupboard sat a doll
and a toy white horse and many other toys. Each night the toys would
come alive. Maretta was a doll. The white horse did not have a name.
The child just called him the white horse. Maretta and the white horse
were best friends forever. They rode around the room delivering and picking
up messages. They were happy! |
