The teacher-counselors at Wright school have always been models of specialness---just as Nick Hobbs wanted ---talented, interesting, impressive adults. I remember many children who came to the school in trouble and left as hopeful and more competent people. I also remember many teachers-in-training who came to the school with fears and uncertainties, but left with both the resolve to make a positive difference in others' lives and the belief that they actually could do that.

My three years at Wright School were the happiest of my life professionally. I learned more about teaching, providing a safe environment, peer relationships, behavior management and teamwork in my three years at Wright School than I've learned in the ten years since I left. The people that I worked with are undoubtedly the most talented group of professionals that I have ever had the opportunity to observe in action. A little over a year ago, I...interviewed for a faculty position at UNC...and I was able to bring my wife and son...to visit 3132 Roxboro Road. Wright School takes the most disruptive BED children in the state and helps them be themselves and thrive. They expertly draw from the best practice on how kids learn and love - emotionally, behaviorally and academically and integrate it seamlessly in the milieu. They make it look easy, even though we know it's not. I hope that more programs throughout the state can learn and use Wright School's practical, positive and sound methods.
