Ms. Patricia Parkins, Evening Teacher-Counselor on the Royals unit, has been practicing yoga weekly with her students. She and Ms. Nina Lorch, Speech Language Pathologist, decided it would be fun to have the kids recreate some of their yoga poses using clay. The kids first took turns in front of the class demonstrating their favorite yoga poses. Then they looked at some pipe cleaner models of the poses to get ideas about working in clay. Finally, they spent a messy but very fun hour recreating their yoga poses in clay. (See the pictures of the figures and read what the kids think about yoga and clay below.) Once the figures were fired in the kiln, the kids placed them on display in the front lobby for visitors and parents to enjoy! |
